I'm still working on the first layer on Autumnal Bay. It's been a busy two weeks but I did find time to spend in the studio yesterday. The heat index has been a crazy 105 here so the A/C sure did feel good! This piece is 20 X 30 on Hahnemühle black velour paper. I'm using Faber Castell soft pastels and Faber Castell pencil pastels using Autumn colors of Oranges, Golds, Yellows. Scarlet, Olive Green and soft shades of Brown. I'm very happy with this piece so far!

*Tip* To remove excess pastel on velour paper gently go over it with a clean Magic eraser sponge.
Also new happenings around the house. I picked up a Paragon kiln for next to nothing last week. Little did I know how old it was until I researched it. It's a teaching kiln from a school dated back to 1977. It came with the manual, all paperwork, cones and shelving. Looks like it has never been used. I contacted the manufacturer and parts are still available! We didn't know if it worked but we took the chance anyway for the price. YES! It works! I can't wait to start some pottery! I thought it would be a great to use for the kids that I will be teaching in art class too. Maybe we will do a segment in pottery and sculpting!

Happy Arting!
