Nellie is finished and I don't think I can be happier! I love all wildlife but I think big cats are my absolute favorite to draw. She is 16" X 14 " on pastel mat card paper. Nellie sold before I finished her but 8 X 10 prints on high quality archival paper will be available here in the store next week.
I tried something a little different than just pastel pencils. This was my first attempt of pan pastels and also using metallic colors. I absolutely love the subtle shimmer the metallic adds when the light hits it. I used gold and copper metallic pan pastel throughout this piece along with hues of plum, burgundy and pinks on the undercoat. I added a couple of my signature orbs. Just in case you didn't know the orbs represent my guides or angels who are with me when I create. I don't have formal training in art, it's a God given talent. This is how I let them know that I know they are with me.
If you've been wanting to add a little more to your pastel paintings I highly recommend the metallic pan pastels. You can purchase them on Amazon for around $15. I'm more than certain that I will 'bling my portraits with beautiful metallics in the future!

These are some of the pan pastels I used on Nellie. Thank you for visiting!
Until next time,
